Dr. Laura Balanescu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatric Surgery and Orthopedics at the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Craiova in 1996, and in 1997-2002 she completed her residency in Pediatric Surgery and Orthopedics at the Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children "Grigore Alexandrescu, Bucharest.
In 2012 she defended her doctoral thesis entitled "Tumors and HIV / AIDS infection in children" under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Eugen Pascal Ciofu.
Dr. Balanescu participated in numerous advanced training courses, including courses on minimally invasive techniques, obtaining in 2015 the certificate of complementary studies in Laparoscopic Pediatric Surgery and subsequently dealing with the preparation of other pediatric surgeries in the minimally invasive approach.
Dr. Balanescu expressed her interest in pediatric liver pathology, graduating the postgraduate course in hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery and obtaining the certificate of hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery in 2016.
